Journey insights through our photography
We explored most of Northern New Mexico for this travel project: Backroads, dirt roads, hi-ways, bi-ways. For over 8 days we wandered a state we thought we knew well. Turns out, there is still more to discover that we could not even cover over two different attempts.
At first glance a visit to New Mexico is about culture, religion, and history in the southwest region, but the state and its population has more to offer beneath the surface. Mysterious lands of unpredictable energy. A vacuum of time and space full of truck stop memorabilia. Where ironic postcards have become collectors items.
We assure you, it doesn't come together over a long weekend visiting the famous balloon fiesta, four corners monument, or even a visit to Santa Fe Indian Market. It takes far more than that.
It's about people , earth, and energy. To understand how all the energy of this place takes shape requires lengthy time living and exploring the state. Being from the outside only gets you so far. You have to live it with fellow New Mexicans to harness the inspiration and creativity that exists. It doesn't require you to eat peyote to experience it, but at the same time it couldn't hurt either.
